Does it say anything on the check?

The Uniform Commercial Code (UCC) is a collection of laws and regulations meant to harmonize the laws of sales and regulations across the U.S. The UCC tells banks that they are under no obligation to accept personal or business checks that are older than 180 days (6 months). So, generally speaking, personal and business checks are good for 6 months; however, some banks will accept older checks.
Only on DDF does 24/6 mean 24/5/half/half

We have all done it but that isn't the point.
To answer the question, yes you can deposit it and yes it can bounce.

I'm assuming it will work if there is money to cover it, but if the payee denies the change, they will win.

However, one important point. If the check was written by an individual, it would be the right thing to call that person and say, "I apologize, but I just found this check. Would it be alright if I deposit it now?"

Not everyone has a perfect balancing of their accounts, and having an unexpected check cashed out of your account can really mess people up.
