I'm using "backdoor conviction" in the way CM defined it, not in the way you did.
Who is CM?
Only on DDF does 24/6 mean 24/5/half/half

I actually Googled backdoor conviction before posting to make sure I was getting it right.

See, that's where you went wrong. Bringing facts to an internet argument

I was thinking how many would be dead if we had guns with all the fights I was in when younger.

Are you hoping you are one of the 12, 6 or doesn't matter?
I would want to be one of the 6.

What did your conclude? I'm curious if I didn't feel like this whole case is BLM motivated if I would have a different opinion.

(I still think end result he was a scared 17 year old that felt his life was in danger from these people, and I do think that at least from one of them he was actually in danger)

I tried to remove myself from any political influence, and I do think there is more to the case than a simple open-and-shut case. But from what I've heard, I think there the prosecutors have failed to rebut the claim of self-defense, which it would be incumbent on them to do, and therefore I was not able to declare him guilty.

No odds on the verdict. Probably illegal in the US?

@CountValentine, do you feel that there is a doubt as to whether or not this was self defense, do you feel it was certainly self defense, or do you feel it certainly was not self defense?

I am stuck on him using deadly force. I deliberated on three trials and I would not want to be on this one.
There is zero doubt he feared for his life. Would a reasonable person fear for their life in that situation?

I don't want to lower the caliber of this conversation, but a joke came to my mind and I have no choice but to say it...

I think the defense should've just said, "Josef Rosenblum said the N-word, so shooting him was a responsible response," and they would've gotten Rittenhouse off the hook (at least from the media perspective...).

I think the prosecution mostly conceded that it was reasonable to fear for your life.
What they're really focusing on was, is it right that he showed up in the first place with a gun, and does that forfeit your right to claim self defense. They stressed active shooter, which is someone everyone would agree can't claim self defense.
Save your time, I don't answer PM. Post it in the forum and a dedicated DDF'er will get back to you as soon as possible.

They made a pretty good point that the threat was over after the first shot that shattered R's pelvis. In KR corner is the 4 shots were in a short period of time.

Just because the person coming at you believes you are an active shooter does not mean you can't claim self defense.

Sounds like his guilt was not proven beyond a reasonable doubt.
