Are you being intentionally asinine?

Come on. He walked into what he knew was a super hostile environment with an AR15 and engaged with and provoked violent angry drunk people from the other side. They never thought he'd shoot them. He came in prepared to do so.

Like I've said all along, in the moment it was self defense. But let's not downplay his sheer recklessness and stupidity.

Had he been a hired security guard, would anyone here be having this discussion, or would his right to be there and defend himself be clear?

Was the only crime that he was a volunteer?

Maybe educated yourself first about gun laws?

I would hope a security guard would have an ounce of common sense.

Hope is not a strategy. Neither is circumventing a question.

IIUC, that is the only way he was legally allowed to carry. Whether you believe him or not, he testified that if he could he would've carried a pistol.
I wonder what people who type "u" instead of "you" do with all their free time.

I didn't think your question was serious.
It was not a crime being a volunteer. Every decision leading up to the shootings was a complete lack of common sense. If the decisions he made prior to shootings was a crime he would have been convicted in a heartbeat.

Do you really believe he thought he could legally carry the AR15 at age 17?

Turns out he was right about that, no?

If he would've been 18 and accepted a position as an armed security guard that night, would he have been well within his rights be to there?

You missed the point. He claimed he would have had a pistol if he could legally carry. My point is he thought the AR15 was illegal but did it anyway.

I would think so but not to be roaming the streets.

Where the incident occurred, he was protecting a specific establishment, in a mannerism which you believe wouldn't have been foolish and unjustified had he been hired, no? His sole stupidity was his altruism? For that everyone is jumping on him?

I have no skin in this game, btw. I'm not emotionally involved either way. I'm just playing devils advocate, same as you are. I happen to think that I picked a way more defensible side.

You picked the side of you can't use deadly force to protect property. So why did he bring the AR15 if he was protecting property?

To protect himself while using non deadly force to protect property.

ETA: And he didn't use deadly force to protect property, he only used it to protect himself.
