My annual fee just posted. CSR said i can close the card within 39 days and fee will be credited back. Does anyone know if i can use the $300 travel coupon, then cancel, and still get the fee refunded? Thanks.

Didn't get any answers so I assume it will help others to answer my own question.

If you close the card less than 39 days after the annual membership fee ($395) posts, the annual membership fee is refunded. Even if you already utilized the travel coupon (up to $300) for the new cardmember year. A nice going away gift from Cap1 :)

I've been noticing that when renting a car for 2.5 days Cap1 Travel is only charging for 2 while others are charging for 3. Is that always?

Does anyone have experience with the travel credit expiring and getting it re-instated?

Not sure but there pricing is definitely not reliable from what I’ve seen. Hidden fees/taxes and/or other miscalculations resulting in additional payment necessary at the location. I wouldn’t rely on what anyone sees there for rental cars, unless your confident/had experience otherwise when booking with them.
(I personally would never prepay for a rental car and it’s saved me always time money and headache for many reasons and situations, but that beyond the scope of this post. It deserves its own thread.)

How long after the annual fee posted did you get the $300 travel coupon?

If I plan on closing the card in March but still have points I want to keep alive does the following make sense to do?

Open the venture one card to get the 20k bonus vs product changing to it, and then keep my venture x open until I get the annual travel credit use it and then close the card?

how would that work ? Let’s the price is $1000 how can I use $300 and the rest on different card? Don’t they need the ID to match with cc?

It's no longer a statement credit. You have a $300 voucher you can use. Put the rest on his card.

yes I knew they switched over to voucher system just wasn’t sure how it worked. So basically in my instance instead of the total being $1000, it would be $700 and that’s $700 I would put on on my friends card?

I just had the same experience. That and the fact that you can add Hertz Gold # without paying Hertz.com prices is huge.
