I thought you have 30-40 days to close to get a full refund is that not true anymore?

you can read it that you can get a prorated refund as opposed to a full refund if you close without differentiating when you close it

Downgraded a spark after the AF posted. Was told I might receive a pro rated refund or nothing at all but ended up getting back the full AF

i just spoke to them and they said that you may be eligible for a refund if you downgrade depending on how much time passed and what benefits you used which is basically a prorated refund

they changed the rule regarding downgrading after af posts they will now prorate (i spoke to a agent after seeing someone write about it)

Agent read to me from her workflow that they generally will prorate af with downgrade
But that it can depend on use of card credits.
Sounds like if you use the travel credit 1st they will dedict from af refund.
I didnt use credit, downgraded and waiting to see what will be with af reversal

How long after the AF posted?
Did you use the Travel credit for the new year before you downgraded?

they say it will be prorated if you use the credit but i did see someone on flyer talk write that he used it and still got full refund if anyone tries it let us know

No I think that closing during the eligible time period you get the full refund

unless they somehow claw back the $300 after the fact but I dont see how that would happen once the flight is confirmed with the 300 discount

Based on what they told me they may not refund the full annually fee if u use credit

Used the annual travel credit. Closed the card and they refunded the annual fee.
