Got a second denial in the last few weeks due to “too many revolving accounts”. The phone rep told me there’s a maximum of 5 cards from any issuer I can have open to get approved. Is this accurate? Any workaround?

5 cards open in the past 24 months (a la chase)? Or 5 cards period?

If it's 5 cards period that'd be crazy and I imagine we would've heard about that sooner than this

That seems inaccurate as DW was approved despite being way over 5/24

I got denied for this one and the reason that's given in the letter is  "Based on your credit report from one or more of the agencies on the back of this letter, credit bureau information is missing or unavailable"...
I don't understand this wording.. they pulled a report from Equifax, all info is there! I called and they say there is no recon to discuss with  its back office and they could give a request for back office.. any suggestions?

vrbo rentals are eligible to be paid with their points?

from reading online there was mixed results at least in the past(2017-2020) about Vrbo purchases coding as travel so one can redeem points capital one points.  Is there more clarity/dp on that now?

You can pay for any charge with points. Just login to your account and apply the points to "wipe the charge" off your monthly statement. Since points have a fixed $0.01 value there's no advantage to paying with points. Pay with credit and then wipe the charge away after it posts.

Now if you are talking about using the $300 vacation rental credit that comes with the first year sign up of the Venture X then that's a different story. In that case you still pay with CC and if it codes as vacation rental then you will automatically get a $300 credit. You can still wipe away the rest of the charge with points in this case.

I am not sure this is accurate.

1 .01/point value I thought is for "travel charges" only.
2. $300 travel credit is only for charges booked through their travel site.

Yes. Sorry. I should have said "You can pay for any travel charge with points".

I confused the $200 vacation credit and $300 travel portal credit. There's a $200 vacation rental credit for the first year that does not require that you book through their travel portal.

For me, only the VRBO service fee showed up on my statement as VRBO. It did trigger the $200 vacation rental statement credit but it looks like it is not showing up as redeemable with points. The balance looks like VRBO passed through to the management company that managed the rental. It shows up as a separate charge directly from the management company even though I paid through VRBO. That charge is able to be paid with points. Not sure if this is how VRBO normally operates. With Airbnb for example you only see a charge from Airbnb for the full amount.

you are saying the majority of the charge(management company) does or does not enable you to redeem it with points?

Does. I was able to redeem points to wipe the charge from the management company. But might be YMMV. I assume the majority of my charge showed as from the management company because they are a business and have their own merchant account so they choose to have VRBO passthrough the charge to them. But an individual owner renting via VRBO probably doesn't.

Trying to decide switching from CSP. Any downsides?  Does venturex have delayed bag insurance like CSP - that's a big one
Jury Duty: Nothing to do there but chill and write a TR. Kinda like the beach but missing the view and ocean breeze.

2 Denials, reason given on one was to many inquires (have maybe a few)  and the other to many revolving accounts (around 20 open accounts in total).
Tried again today and was approved!
