Yes it flattens pretty well - it's a soft case.
The hot plate gets to around 150°F IIRC, and I've cooked raw food in it. Keep in mind that it will take significantly longer to cook, due to the low temp.
I don't travel that much, so I held off on buying, until the last BF sale, where I figured I'll get one for my office, for the odd occasion when I want to warm up something fleishig.
The other day I actually put it to first use, taking leftovers from home, sticking it in when I got to the office, and then having my meal a few hours later. I was blown away. Really amazing to be able to bring a meal in a plastic container, and have it perfectly hot on time to eat.
Looking at how it's constructed, it seems like it's a small hotplate and an insulated carrier, which got me thinking about whether there's a way to be allowed to use these as portable Shabbos hotplates (by leaving the top uncovered, to avoid הטמנה בדבר שמוסיף הבל). Did anybody try this? Will the food stay warm enough when the tote is left open/uncovered?
@aygart Any Halachic insight on this?
