Am I missing something? What's the benefit over paying directly with a credit or even debit card?

Maybe Venmo allows you to split payments (the original concept of the app). You can also pay with the balance on your Venmo account. If it saves Amazon money on credit card processing and/or drives more sales, it's a win for them. You can avoid giving your CC info to Amazon by using Venmo as well.

My question was really why it would drive sales. I guess the first point about split payments could be a reason
