I was there a couple of weeks ago
I agree with pretty much everything he writes and had very bad experience at the common bar as well (every night), IMO the breakfast food was not that great as he makes it sound I've had way better and more expansive in other 5 star hotels, although shabbat meals were dam delicious.

Any opinion on Orient hotel vs Waldorf? Aside for Waldorf being better location. Also how’s the breakfast spread at the Orient?

Ive been to both and id say that the wolford has a nicer and more luxurious feeling- it has more of a light feeling and the orient has a darker look. The breakfast was amazing in both places. The orient has a hugh display of food downstairs in one of the ballrooms and the food was fantastic. I didnt enjoy that it was in the basement with no sunlight as the woldorf has it on the main floor with sunlight and a higher ceiling too. The location for the woldorf is obviously  more convenient to the city center, the orient has an outdoor mall nearby as well.

I think it is an Israeli law that they have to let you stay for shabbos

Definitely not
So many hotels won't let you unless you pay extra. Hilton Tel Aviv, Orient, just to name a few.
That being said in Jerusalem they typically accommodate - I'd write to the hotel in advance to comfirm

When was your stay?

I had 2 friends on separate occasions where the room wasn't ready for check in before 6pm. Very poor service - ordered something, the order never arrived that kind of thing. Overall i had 3 friends going over the past year, all said it was the worst value of money.

It might have changed

Interesting to hear. They have exceptional good reviews on Google.
Regardless of their service, do you if they have a minyan?

Same. Food was abundance and delicious. Hotel is great.

There is a shul and mikva there. I woke up late so I didn't have minyan, but I'm sure there is at least 1 minyan especially in peak times.

Are you for real? I've already made plans to stay there for my upcoming trip in February. They're a little pricey, so I want to make sure they're worth it. It's interesting because a friend recently told me that this place has changed since COVID. (In a negative way)

So.. Any other similar ideas??

Their website says they have no Hechsher.
