Any recent data points on crowne Plaza Jerusalem?
Going Solo for two weeknights, not Shabbos. It seems to be the only jlem points option open to me, but I don't want to stay in a dump.
For comparison purposes, the litov and prima palace were fine for me in the past.

seems a step up from leonardo plaza in terms of luxury, but leo has a stricter kosher supervision. has a nicer heated pool, and recently updated rooms, but generally costs more than leo. a few minutes longer walk to western wall.

The Inbal's renovated rooms are closet to Waldorf level than the Plaza

Going to Israel for a week in about a week. Trying to figure out the pros and cons of renting a car vs taxis. Not going to travel much but to and from the airport and one day up north and bnei brak on the way back to the airport.
Would also like to go to Kever rachel, Har Hazeisim and Mearas Hamachpeila. Any insight on this is greatly appreciated. Haven't been there in over a decade.

Where will you be based out of? If Yerushalayim then the last three are accessible by bus

based out of Yerushalaim.
Does it make sense to just rent a car for the day to go up north?

Depends on what you want to do- if going only to one place then returning, a driver might be OK. Public buses very economical. If you want flexibility and going to several places and are comfortable driving then renting would be fine. Car rentals, especially smaller cars, are not that expensive and likely far less costly than a driver.

On the other hand, hiring someone who knows his way around can easily save you a couple of hours and allow you to get much more done.

I have rented for a few days to do similar to what you want to visit. I like the freedom of going and coming when I want so a car rental works for me.

Anyone have an opinion on tryp vs Crowne plaza?

Haven't stayed at the Crowne Plaza but I just got back for a stay at the Tryp (literally this was the first time in Israel not staying at the Waldorf Astoria Jerusalem, since they opened) and I thought the Tryp was awesome.  The location on King George absolutely can't be beat.  Convenience and location are really important to me since I like to walk all around the city and the traffic is ridiculous (I also like that it was really close to the light rail).  Although the room was really small, I was very impressed with the little touches that were much nicer than what I expected at that price point.  There was a cute box of chocolates and welcome note upon check-in, breakfast was solid, the toiletries were nice Dead Sea products.  Also, even though there is no on-site restaurant, they have a little coffee corner off the lobby that has an espresso machine where you can have have hot drinks and free cookies and cakes all day.  I don't know if they normally do this or it was special for Hannukah but they also had like a nice little free happy hour with soup and snacks and drinks every evening.  I paid about $115 a night over peak dates the last week of the year from a flash sale and used points for those nights that had higher rates, and I couldn't have been happier.  In hindsight, I'm kinda glad that the WAJ didn't have availability when I needed and I didn't waste the HHonors points, when this great deal was available.

A little out of the way Hotel:

I just stayed at the Hermon Holiday Village in Neve Ativ. The place is AWESOME!!! Private cabin 2 floors. Huge pool and hot tub. 20 minutes to the Hermon. 20 minutes to Kiryat Shmona (Mehadrin Food). In middle of the Golan so it is awesome location!!!

One other thing I wanted to post because I haven't seen it written about anywhere on the forums is that I spent my last night at the Sadot Airport Hotel near Ben Gurion for about $175.  I cancelled my last night at the Tryp and stayed there instead (booked with hotels.com using their free nights).  I had an early BA flight and the train doesn't run that early.  Since I needed to travel near Tel Aviv the day before I left, it was much easier for me to stay here than return all the way back to Jerusalem.  The hotel is just a couple miles away from Ben Gurion and your stay includes a free taxi to the airport (they book it for you and pay the driver with a voucher).  It was so nice to get to sleep an extra hour and at $175 less than even the Tryp plus the cost of cab/driver from Jerusalem.  The room was very clean, with modern decor, large (like a suite) and would easily sleep 4.

Since our returning flights seem to always leave super early in the morning, I think the last nights of our future trips will be at this hotel, since I really liked the convenience, extra sleep, knowing my ride was set for me and I'd much rather pay that reasonable amount than waste points at the WAJ, RITZ or Hilton and like I said it was even a better deal than the Tryp plus a cab fare.

Fulfilling a promise to my mother, z"l, and taking my step-dad to Israel for his first trip there in July, arriving late Sun night from Spain, heading back on Friday morning. He is really keen on seeing J'lem. Neither of us wants to rent a car, and TLV for an afternoon / overnight prior to flight is sufficient for us (we come from the Med already). We are thinking maybe Mon & Tue ion J'lem. Where would you go for Wed & Thu? Would you use J'lem as a base and do a couple of day tours to Masada / Dead Sea etc...? Or shlepp the cases etc...?

Is there a good b and b in the desd sea area?  Also what is the best least expensive option ( non points) hotel in that area.  Do dead sea hotels allow motzei shabbat checkouts for Friday one day stays?

Hi
My family is looking for a place in the North to stay for Shabbat after the Tiberias Marathon.   There is always Kibbutz Lavi but I'd appreciate if anyone has any experience with other hotels in the North.
Thank you
Dror

For other readers.  Ended up staying at the Caesar Permier Hotel for Shabbat.   There were Shabbat keys, elevator and minyan at the Hotel, as well as good Shabbat Dinner and Lunch.  The hotel was solid - clean and decent size rooms.  Location was excellent.  Wish they would spruce up the downtown area because there is huge potential for both Jewish and Christian tourists.
