I had completely forgotten about that :-)
It was called Sheraton Plaza, or something like that?
and they had a great restaurant to, back in 1984 or so

Primavera, chef Shalom Kadosh. And they did a barbeque night by the pool once a week I believe.

What is the best option for a kosher (preferably approaching mehadrin level) hotel in Yerushalayim at ~$250/night?

not too many hotels are mehadrin kashrus so you'll be pretty limited in choices

FWIW- from what I've heard, you can speak to the mashgichim at non-mehadrin hotels and they will let you know what foods are mehadrin.

Leonardo Plaza (the old Sheraton Plaza).

Last year, we had our first trip planned but it was cancelled.  Now, we have an airline reservation on hold for 14 days for November and are hoping/praying that my work isn't in vain and that the country will be reopened to US since we have been vaccinated (no family in Israel).

10 Nights.  We already have a guide so he is handling the day-to-day itinerary but we are booking the hotels.
4 Days in Jerusalem
2 Days in Galilee (Mitzpe Hayamim)
4 Days in TLV

While we could swap Jerusalem dates w/ TLV, we thought that seeing the Wailing Wall on Friday night made sense to put it on the front end.  Our first choice was Waldorf Astoria (buying Hilton cert from dan's deals forum) but the dates are sold out.  Need alternative higher end hotel.  King David would be amazing but we can't find any deals and the rate is $685 per night (ouch).

Galilee - Our guide strongly suggested Mitzpe Hayamim so we are going with that one.

TLV, previously booked at Drisco.  Rate is $650 for sea view and breakfast.  Rate for basic room w/ breakfast is $521.  Alternatives that are equally as nice in TLV for less?

Neither the King David or Drisco are out of the question but we would welcome your input.

Thanks in advance.

Anthony

$650 for Drisco is absurd. The nicest hotels in Tel Aviv are the non kosher Jaffa & Norman, and the Kosher Setai / Royal Beach / Hilton 17th floor.

+1
The Hilton Tel Aviv is good value for money IMHO even without 17th floor / Vista, @80k per night with 5th night free. Diamonds are typically upgraded to the executive floor with 12th fl lounge access.

Executive lounge is temporarily closed there.

A bottle of wine, two nature valleys and some "fresh" fruit. I asked for more but they refused to give me anything else ::) ::)

I want to use my Hilton free night certificate to book a room for someone else, in the Hilton Tel Aviv.   Could this be a potential problem.

Not an issue. Book it under your friend's name

Welcome your advice on my current reservations:

Jerusalem:  Nov 2-5.  David Citadel.  $470+ per night.
Tel Aviv:  Nov 7-11.  The Jaffa.  60k Marriott Points per night.

Jersualem.  It is my understanding that the David Citadel is very nice and comparable to Waldorf & King David.  Is this correct?

Tel Aviv.  Looking for non-Kosher hotel that is in the top tier.  I understand The Norman is best but a little too pricey for me.  I had extra Marriott points.  There aren't very many current reviews of The Jaffa Marriott.  Is this a very nice property?

Thoughts?

Inbal and Citadel will probably be a big difference between milk and meat kitchens. Orient wasn't into mehadrin last I heard but please update.

I'm hoping to get back to israel and trying to figure out kashrus and new hotel options. Can anyone update on whether Orient, inbal or citadel are under mehadrin hechshers for yamim tovim or otherwise? also there are other new hotels like the herbert samuel, brown, paamonim, and now dan panorama is renovated, are any of these options mehadrin and or recommended? and is prima royale a decent option for yom tov?

Also would appreciate any experiences or info on kashrus at inbal, esp for yomim tovim (I’m generally an ou guy).

I'm headed to Israel in October with two adults and two kids <10.  I want to book Waldorf Jerusalem and Sheraton Tel Aviv.  If I put only 2 adults and 1 kid to get the Standard Room, is it likely they will deny me entry if they find out I have a 2nd kid?  Is it easy to sneak the 2nd kid?  I'm OK with the sleeping arrangements.  I know in the US and MX this is not a problem, but Europe it is.

Looks like Hilton is blocking one night redemption every Thursday and Friday nights, for basically all of 2021 despite unlimited inventory.

Is there a way to force them to honor a basic redemption? Or they can do whatever they want?
