If you have 2 addresses in different states can you go back and forth when you receive notice from either state just say you live mainly in the other?
wouldnt you have to go to jury duty in both?

Not if you tell each state that you live in the other. No?

Why not go down there and tell them about your other responsibilities? IMO thats the best and safest way.

  • Location: The value of a forum such as this one is not in that one can post a question and receive an answer, but in that the question has most likely been asked before, and the answer is available to him that will but only use the search function.
  • Programs: 1. Search on google. 2. Search in the right board of DDF with a general word or two. 3. Read the wiki. 4. Read the thread. 5. Ask away.

I worked for myself and sat on a jury. IMHO this is the most childish thread I've read in a while. Be an adult, do your civic duty. In NY you get called once every 8 years, for 1 day. Most cases are civil and settle when the Jury is seated. Otherwise, if it costs you a week to learn about the legal system suck it up. If you were on the other side you would want a jury of your peers, not a jury of people who have nothing better to do with their lives.

Personal experience, person i know lost use of his right hand 98% in a construction accident. Insurance company offered 300k for a minimum $1MM injury. Because he drove a fancy car the jury found that he didnt need the money and awarded him $65k. So it works both ways.

All i can say is do it and you'll be a better person for having done it. I personally sat and acquitted a guy who was being railroaded by his ex-wife and the DA.

Fair warning - Any PMs sent in response to forum posts are fair game for ridicule in public.

This happened more than 4 years ago. I wrote up "the story" then  - if you have any interest, read it here.

The case was about this:
I really enjoyed this. It may be a run-of-the-mill jury experience, but your writing is so enjoyable to read. Thanks!

Why thank you. I was actually cringing rereading it, I hope my writing has improved quite significantly.

One thing I left out (and I don't remember why) is that it was winter with short Fridays, and I was too shy to bring that up during selection, and then got anxious thinking about how to bring it up once the trial started.

That was a big factor in deciding to get off the case without having to bring that up.

In the summer they need to give enough time to got to kuntry.
I wonder what people who type "u" instead of "you" do with all their free time.

Save your time, I don't answer PM. Post it in the forum and a dedicated DDF'er will get back to you as soon as possible.

I tried googling after, but didn't find anything. I didn't try searching court records, if someone knows how to do that with the info provided...

Jury Nullification ?

I can tell if a person is guilty or non guilty just by looking at them.
