Here’s the scoop. Me and the G Crew are going to Maui Jan 24-27. We can't afford it with just $$ but can with a combo of points and $$. I transferred 100k Chase points to Marriot (at a 1-1.5 rate = 150k Marriot points) Sheraton is offering 50k per night = 1.7 cents = $850 per night (regular rate for the room we want is $1250 per night or $4526 total)
We will have to pay the 150k points and $1650 for the room we want for the 3 nights. I believe its a pretty good deal getting about 1.7 cents per Marriot point.
So I think that how Im gonna do it! The question now is do I pay that extra $1650 (which will ultimately be around 2k with taxes and resort fees which they, as of now won’t waive, I asked, and they won’t let me use my 501c3 non profit status to waive the taxes) do I pay that $1650 with my Bonvoy credit card, which I’d get 6x per $ (about 9900 Marriot points but are locked into Marriot (I already have about 17,500 Bonvoy points existing) or do I pay with Sapphire Reserve which gets 3x per $ which comes out to about 6k points but would be a 1.5 point value (7500 approx) when used for travel in general and not locked in to anyone? Thoughts?
