Must RR CC be open to redeem points for GCs?
« on: December 30, 2011, 02:20:43 PM »
I was recently told by someone that use his Chase SW RR signup bonus to buy GCs, that the card that earned the points must still be open at the time of redemption to be eligible for GC purchase.
Sounds interesting and I couldnt find anything about it in the T&C.

Anyone know yay or nay?

Do partners (airlines/hotels etc.) always get notified when co-branded account is closed?

Rhetorical q?

-Doesnt sound like a Q that the guy with 10807 posts would ask a guy with 131
;)

First of all, yes. My post count doesn't mean I know it all, and I'm sure there's something you (or anyone) can teach me. The question was a response to your post, but directed at anyone. This is something I've been wondering about recently, and haven't gotten an answer yet.

I don’t have 10k posts so you might not trust my answer but it is nay. I have 50/50 chance of being right!  ;D

I do not have the card and this is the message I receive when I try to put a GC in the cart:

"In order to add items to your cart you must be a Rapid Rewards Credit Cardmember."

Well with 348 posts, can you be trusted to copy and paste accurately?
;)
Thanx for input.
Q now is: If I got sign a up bonus with one SW card and closed it to move CL to another SW card for another sign up bonus, will I be able to buy GCs with points from first card of it was closed but second one is still open?
Any one know?

Technically based on the comment you got, one should l'choireh be able to.

No copy and paste this time but I will base it on my limited 15+ years experience of playing these games and go with “yay”.

I think I just realized why I choose the nic HelpMe. I am going to need a ton of HELP learning my third language.

Just tried to add gift cards and the OP turned out to be right, guess I should have gotten those GC's before cancelling, oh well guess I'll just have to use the points to fly across America several times  ;D
