Actually the vaccine was approved just over a year ago. Though I do agree that a year ago is way before the effects of vaccination in the US.

On a 7-day average basis we're still far from NYS/NYC's peak, but if the trend from this past week continues we'll surpasses it sooner than it took in December/January a year ago.
