Package vacations-- can I skip flight and use hotel only?

I have a Delta Vacations voucher and therefore must book a flight together with the hotel. If I skip the outbound flight, I know that my inbound leg will likely be cancelled, but will the hotel stay be affected as well? I am thinking not since they are two separate reservations. Does anyone have experience with this?

I guess you didn't do the Expedia Vegas deal?
