American airlines credit only, no refund

So guys, im sure im not the only one in the following situation:

I am an american scheduled to fly to israel. Currently, americans are not allowed into israel. American airlines did NOT cancel the flight.

they are offering only credit, and not a refund on the credit card. anyone have success getting credit back on the credit card?

Can the segments be taken out by the TA and then file the DOT complaint after that? Passenger doesn't want it to be a no show.

any ideas on this
i (my son) has an AA credit
can i book a flight with credit - adding their optional $100 charge to make it fully refundable, and then get a refund?
that would be epic...

Obviously not, the refund would go back to your payment method.
