Got my AF on Dec 3. ($450)
1)  Any reason to keep it open (Other then the $300 Marriott credit and free night)?
2) If I cancel can I reapply if card was an upgrade and not a new card)?
3) The $300 credit is calendar year or membership year?
4) Can I downgrade to a cheaper card will they proarate the AF?


I found that with amex when you spend the $300 they dont credit you until the 30 days past.

Looks like they're changing the $300 Marriott credit to a $25/month dining credit. Wondering if a double dip is possible if anniversary date happens before the 9/22 switch.

Yes, but I've adapted to it and it's as good as cash for me.
If I happen to have extra at the end of the month, I just buy a GC online from a local pizza shop.

True. But what value does card have besides the usuals that I ger from my other cards)
To pay now $450 to get $25 off monthly (have to remember to use the card, because it stays in my drawer). And to get a cert that worth maybe $200.

Just redeemed mine for an $1030 room next week.

And Platinum isn't worth much anymore, but it's still something.

Not really worth the hassle of $25 monthly restaurant (Many kosher restaurants in Monsey code as grocery.)
85K cert sell for about $325 so If I remember to use every month and sell the credit I might break even, so only perk is Plat status?
Am i missing something?

Why not purchase some Starbucks/Dunkin Donuts etc. gift cards and sell them at 85-90%? Also, I get quite a few great offers from my Brilliant card, so to me it's still worth paying AF. But YMMV.

Lets say that I "remember" every month that still dorps the AF to $300 which is the value of an 85K night so is it worth the hassle? there are no real perks in having this card? The business version offers more then this card for way lower annual fee

Free Plat status isn't a bad deal.
Much worse value prop for people with lifetime Plat though.

I just paid my first AF for the boundless a few months ago. I also just PCd to the RC. I have no other marriott cards.

I technically can wait a year to get SUBs for the brilliant/business but I frankly don't have the patience and the SUB for the brilliant isn't great right now tbh. My main goal is plat elite. 

If I sign up for the brilliant today, does that ruin my chances of ever getting the SUB again? Some might say I already did by getting the RC, but the T&C say only in the past 90 days.

Basically can someone advice me if it's worth waiting a year for 95k marriott points.

I think they are due soon for a limited sign up offer, last year at some point they offered two 85k nights. I would wait until then to sign up because that is a very good bonus compared to the 95k

 I hear. I'm thinking of applying and not putting in my bonvoy # and letting them generate a new one for me. Would that let me get the SUB even though im less than 24 months from boundless? @Dan curious to hear your thoughts on this. I anyways don't need to stack ENCs as 2 personals dont stack.
