UA has biz saver space avail for this weekend to TLV. Thinking to book it, hoping flights will be cancelled and will be given opportunity to change flights to different date. Last time they cancelled flights, award tix booked on UA were able to change tickets from cancelled flights to a later date that there was no saver space avail. Flights booked on United through TK were not, they just refunded points. We should know by Thursday if flights will be cancelled. Question is if they do not cancel. UA charges to reinstate miles for tix canceled within 30 days of flights. Dan suggests first changing the date for free to a later date, and then canceling. Problem is that there aren't any later dates available with saver space to change the tickets. Does this trick work if I would change the ticket to a partner airline flight which has saver space available in a few months from now (stopover), and then cancel that ticket?
