Ordering food to airport?
« on: July 25, 2024, 01:39:24 PM »
Hi,

I'm planning on being at DTW (Detroit) airport for about 8 hours this coming Tuesday till hour flight leaves. I'm trying to find options to get pizza delivered (we're a group of about 5).
I discovered 2 kosher pizza stores, Jerusalem pizza and Pizza Stop (located in The Grove). Both don't directly deliver to the airport.

Instatcart lists the grove, but doesn't have any of the fresh pizza as an item. Uber parcel doesn't seem to work with delivery to the airport (shows no vehicles available).

Anyone have any other suggestions?
Thanks

Use UberX to bring it to you. Ask the restaurant if they'll bring the food out to the driver when he's there.
Save your time, I don't answer PM. Post it in the forum and a dedicated DDF'er will get back to you as soon as possible.

Thanks, it's probably at least double the cost compared to a parcel delivery option but that seems like the only option. I appreciate the suggestion, we'll consider it.

Was wondering if I could get an instacart shopper and ask them to pick up the order, but upon researching they can only pick up items that were paid through the app.. but maybe I can ask them to make the pizza order at the store, and charge the cost to the app...

I guess worst case, I can try the instacart idea, and if they won't do it, I can go with the uber option.

With 8 hours, why don't you leave the airport?
Go eat, take a tourist bus for 2 hours, finds a mincha minyan  etc.

@yungermanchik thanks, I found that as well. But when I called the grove they said it's the frozen back of pizza. Not the fresh pizza.

@ckmk47 the problem is we have a lot of luggage and can't drop it off till about 2 hours before departure (it's frontier).

I would try ordering it anyways with a shoppers note to get the hot one instead. and also cantact the Grove at the same time that it should have the kashrus tape and to coordinate.

I could try, but I'm not sure they'd wait for it to be ready. And if I pre-order I think I would have to select to pay at store (since instacart will only take items they paid for), but I'd be concerned they would decline taking it..

So maybe I can try that, but use uberx as backup..

I wonder if anyone tried getting pizza like that with instacart..

Hm, so we're coming from camp, not from another flight. I wonder if we could print out the baggage tags and place them in an office directly...

Update:
Well what happened in the end? Rather anti-climactic. I just brought extra food and we hung around the airport for.. a long time. Though we were able to check in our luggage about 4 hours before the flight.
Anyway thanks for everyone's input, and I'm glad there's a place to share ideas with a wonderful community.
