Maybe, but it just takes one person to mutate a virus and if they're also a superspreader, we're back to square one.
That sounds like the flu...

Since when does the flu kill 2000 Americans a day?

Because it is far along the way to being just another coronavirus causing a common cold.
Perhaps, but it's still far deadlier.

From who I met over Shabos, everyone is saying that they had something in the past 2 weeks or starting to feel something now. So it seems that it will be over in a week or two.

These "pcr" tests are meaningless if they can't differentiate this nee variant from the previous. I doubt you will find any local doctor who believes that these pcr tests work especially now.

I'm talking locally in CH with what they call "omicron"

Dr Campbell on YouTube has been posting data from UK and the world. Based on his data omicron death rate and hospitalizan numbers are nothing compared to when covid hit.

All indications I have seen are that this is not the case for Omicron. Do you have anything leading you to believe otherwise?

When I asked Dr Rosen about it last week he said that while his office sees tens of people with covid per day, and it is indeed mostly milder, they did send a few people to the hospital (low single digit in total for the week). When I said that it sounds no worse than the flu, his response was that in all the years he's been practicing medicine he might have lost 4 or 5 patients to the flu, while he lost 42 to covid-19, and has many suffering from long-term effects.
I've been waiting over 5 years with bated breath for someone to say that!

"It" referring to what?

We all agree omicron is not the same as covid-19.

Wrong thread but
At this point it should be classified as it's own coronavirus.
It's Symptoms are vastly different.

I don't think classifications are based on symptoms.

I, and others I spoke to, have identical symptoms in December 2021 as we had in March 2020.

Not sure what your location is.
I'm not saying I'm correct here, but who says that you have omicron, it could be Delta,

Definitely not Omicron. Referring to deaths before anyone ever heard of Omicron (or Delta).

And your medical degree is in?
Viruses aren't classified by symptoms. Omicron is very much still COVID-19. COVID-19 PCRs for Omicron work just fine.
Now Omicron does appear to be far less deadly and we can hope and pray this is the end game for COVID-19. But that's nothing more than a hope.

IDK what you mean by "breaks through". It seems like Omicron is a fast path to herd immunity. Everyone seems to be getting it. It's exposing the power hungry politicians for what they are. The most logical thing to do would be to remove all mandates, and let people make their own choices, telling them that vaccination is likely to protect them from severe disease.

What does “everyone makes their own choices” mean for seniors? At this point going to shul with two masks might still mean they’re risking their lives. Should they stay shuttered at home for as long as it takes because that’s the only safe choice for them to make?

And on that note, we have been hearing since March 2020 that every time there's a new wave that it's nothing like the OG wave and it's not real COVID. And yet, people keep on dropping dead. So I pray that pundits are finally right this time, but sorry if I'm skeptical that this is all over now.
