There are a bunch of people who were arrested whose text messages clearly show this was a planned event with a very real goal.

There was a group (groups?) who planned to violently take over Congress and stop the certification. They weren't successful in the end goal, but they did succeed in violently breaching security, and we came within minutes (seconds) of perhaps having the vice president killed to achieve that goal. You are minimizing how much success they actually had.

I haven't been following this story in detail, and have no doubt much of the stuff that I've taken in has been exaggeration and hyperbole. What I have seen has been transcripts of text messages, not in context of finding out what happened, but in context of making fun of what absolute morons they were.

You won't need to convince me that those clowns weren't a grave threat to our democracy.

I think people can admit that Trump's rhetoric leading up to that day and the planned actions of a portion of his supporters are minimized for the same political reasons that left is embellishing them.

Bottom line, we did get some good comedy out of this, including whatever that Lin Manuel Miranda performance was, and Ted Cruz's pitiful groveling.

I don't know the technicalities, and I don't know what the legal process would have been, but Trump would not have stopped anything. It wasn't particularly close. This thread is about the "insurrection" of lack thereof. It's not about the legal challenge to the election results. There were a handful of Republican lawmakers who weren't on board with the results. The overwhelming majority were not backing Trump's attempts.

In 2016 there were also a handful of Democrats who refused to certify the results, and you don't hear a peep about them. They did *exactly* the same thing. Stacey Abrahams still hasn't conceded her race.

I haven't listened to this in a while and don't remember exactly how far the allegations here go. and you avoided committing to what exactly we're looking for evidence of, but I think they make a very solid case here that it's worth questioning what's actually going on.

Correct, although B was meant to be only mildly conspiratorial although I should've worded it better. (maybe "many" or "some" instead of "most"?)
