I literally went through every combination that could be by guess number 6. Realized it had to be one of those situations but I still couldn't figure out the word. I never heard of it

Took me longer than usual, but so did the NYT Mini, so I assumed I was just overtired.  But maybe this one was especially difficult because .... oops.  Later.  Maybe some are still solving.

Interesting. It did take me a few minutes, but after my initial guesses there really weren’t too many word options available. I mean I see I posted results at 12:06 so it couldn’t have taken too long.

Yup, by the time I was done with my 4th try I had identified two letters and eliminated 12 others, there wasn’t really anything left:

I played extra hard mode, where I used every identified letter in a new position until I placed it, and also avoided using any letters that have already been eliminated.

I actually quit the NYT mini last night after not getting it for a few minutes, came back this morning and got it done
