You play it just like wordle, but you're not limited to just 6 guesses, so in that sense it's easier. 

If you want to make it even easier, try 3-4 "Random Guesses" to start it off.  That will eliminate several letters, then start your logical guesses from there.

It's harder than wordle partly because it uses a larger set of words, so a lot of less common words.  The other reason it's harder is explained in the link skyguy918 posted, and that can help in developing an optimal strategy for guessing, which is slightly different from what you've probably been using for wordle.

I was able to get many 7s and 6s.

Yesterday's word is not used all that much. My 10 year old daughter started playing, and so I told her yesterday I'm pretty sure she doesn't know the word. Then when she was done, I asked if she knew the word and she said, "it rings a bell".
