I can't find the source, but I'm going to guess it's the SPLC. I'm totally shocked that a leftist "organization" will identify more hate groups (based on their made up criteria) in R states. This says nothing about the states, it speaks volumes about the organization behind it.

ETA: I found this "Nebraska has the third highest number of hate groups per capita among U.S. states, as the Midwestern state of less than 2 million people had nine active hate groups as of 2020, according to the SPLC."

No need for right wing, but an organization that labels anti abortion groups as hate groups is a worthless source. Also, did you notice that antifa isn't listed anywhere on the list?

I think we should be measuring hate crimes and not hate groups.

To count groups while paying no attention to the amount of members they contain, or to the amount of crimes they commit, is perverting the narrative IMO.

SPLC is widely acknowledged to to be a scam. They did good work back in the day, but it was always about being a money machine for the guys at the top.

From their list you would thing NY is a hotbed of right-wing hate groups with nary a mention of any left wing groups. That goes against the experience of many DDF members.
