Topic Wiki

This thread is to discuss whether people feel that something is unethical, not to find out what the law*/T&C says.

Any Halachic questions should be posted here.

*According to CountValentine this includes religion, but unfortunately for him, the general consensus is that religion will always be entwined in this thread.

*Hint* If you have to ask, It's most likely not ethical.

No issue IMO, just not the safest thing to do.

This should work: With the tablet powered down, press the power button, when you see the back light press the volume rocker switch down.  It will bring up the Startup Menu and press F11 for System Recovery and it should restore it to the out of the box configuration. (You are using the HP Stream 7, correct?)

I just got a PM stating the following:

Hi there,
I'm new here, just wanna know how it works here. Will you really help someone that wants essentially to breaking into a tablet? ls this ethical? (beside that I would fear my son wanting to hack in into my system...

I replied:
I dont consider it unethical. If I would know its a kid that would be a different story. The right words aren't coming to mind, however  I can't be חושד that every time I post it will be taken for bad.

He Responded:

You could never know if it's a bucher breaking into his yeshiva office or fathers PC. I would be cautious with stuff like this.

My friend goes every morning to get a coffee from Dunkin the cashier got to know him and now she will just give him the coffee and say it's fine you don't have to pay, it's a more of a halachic question but basically does an employee have the right to not charge someone

Not in that sense, I'd imagine. If it's like a courtesy for some mess up and the like than I think that do have some type of leeway but to just give away because she likes him etc I would say not.

Are you buying it only because you know amex won't ask for it back?
Or you just need the extended window to return?
Life isn't about checking the boxes. Nobody cares.

I'm buying "hoping"  that amex won't ask it back,  but if they want they can ask the item back.

Sound very unethical to me. To put it mildly.

Not sure if this has been discussed... Is it "geneiva" or unethical or neither to use a screenshot of 7-11 free slurpee coupon or is it their responsibility to make sure your not using the code twice or more

The coupons are on a time limit for a reason. Obviously against the rules; and by extension; unethical. A better question would be using multiple numbers to get it multiple times.
Who do you think you are fooling? You think you are going to pull a quick one on your Creator? Good luck with that.
