Which basic economy is best? And why? How much more would you pay to go on your preferred basic economy?

I would say Delta is better, since at least they'll allow you to switch seats at check in.
AA you can't switch without paying $$

No miles on Delta vs full miles on AA.
No EQMs on Delta vs full loyalty points on AA.
AA allows elites to select MCE seats on BE.
AA allows comp upgrades on BE.
AA allows 500 milers on BE.
AA allows SWUs on BE.

4 out of the 6 points you mention are only relevant for those with status and 1 is only relevant for those trying to earn status.
I can understand for someone who is a light flyer, being able to switch seats may be preferable to earning miles.

Do you factor in the airline overall? For me, virtually none of the factors Dan mentioned are a concern, but I'd rather fly Delta than AA.

B6 allows choosing seats at check in, United sometimes assigns at the gate.
I guess you’re considering free bags for cardholders?

Yes.
Also, UA is much better about keeping people on the same PNR together compared to B6.

I don't think that's a factor for this argument.

Truthfully though, didn't know DL BE allows you to switch seats at OLCI. Was that always the case?

DL was good until recently.
Full mileage/segment and status earning, elite and cc baggage allowance, able to choose seats at 24hr check-in. The only thing you didn't get was comp upgrades. They've completely decimated it. Good by BE segment runs.
I've also noticed that DL seems to have  a greater difference between E and V fares.

Doesn't UA give 50% award for basic?

Basic Economy is horrible. Period. Especially for transatlantic flights. Absolutely ridiculous to charge $1,000+ for a ticket where you can't choose seats or check in luggage or get any miles/elite credits, etc, without paying another $150.

The crazy part is that the justification for moving to basic economy for transatlantic flights is not around anymore (those airlines are gone), and the justification makes sense when flights are $350, never when they are more than $500.

More stupid basic economy rules. Thank you Delta for starting this garbage and leave it up to Lufthansa Group airlines to keep on making it even worse.
