It has similar vibes to “false accusations” tangents in the CW thread, important conversation perhaps, but a major distraction from the more immediate and significant matters at hand.

Do you have any specific reason to believe any of the hostages weren’t Jewish?

I don't think this terrorist chose this location because of the Rabbi's views.

I think he chose it because it was a Jewish institution, because it was synagogue, and because he thought it had Jews inside.

Let's focus on this sad reality.

Yeah, that it wasn't an Orthodox place. Plenty of Reconstructionist and Reform places have many or most congregants that are not Halachically Jewish. Now while any hostage situation is not ok and especially if the target was a Jewish place, it's much closer to heart if the people were actually our brothers and sisters instead of standard fine people...

So you think four random people in a Reform temple (including a reform Rabbi) and you think odds are not even one are Halachically Jewish?

I hope you aren’t first-responder if I even need Hatzalah, unless you can check my Yichus as quickly as you can check my pulse

In any case this is a distraction and doesn’t belong here. An attack on a reform temple could very well have been an attack on an Orthodox shul, not the type of roulette anyone here who feels the need to make that distinction wants to be playing.

I agree with Dan, the proximity to the airport seems to be a large factor but non the less it was an attack on a shul (us Yidden) I'll take any bet that the terrorist neither knew or cared if its was a reform shul or a Gerr shteibal. We should all take this as a reminder that we are constantly under attacked and sit here and debate if halachicly the hostages were Jewish.
