United Moved Seat Assignments

I booked a flight on United a couple of months ago from ORD to FLL for tomorrow morning. I booked our seats all together around rows 12-15, I don't exactly remember. We are family of 5 with 3 kids under the age of 6. I went to check in tonight and they moved us to the back of the plane and split all of us.

Has anyone dealt with this situation before?

Seats aren't guaranteed. Best you can do is ask for a free change to another flight into FLL/MIA/PBI or an upgrade to E+ or a refund.

Not a plane type change. The rep said she could not confirm why our seats were changed but they were and they cannot change us back.

Unfortunately, its a pretty full flight so we cannot get the upgrade or anything. I guess we have to deal with it at the gate.

Ask to switch to MIA/PBI and for E+ for free.

And, checked the price to change?

Checking on that now. It actually may be cheaper to rebook it to MIA, so I am looking into it. Thanks!

Let us know what UA says. Ask for a manager if they say no. Make sure you stress having little kids, don't want to risk separate seating, etc.

We got the flight switched to a similarly timed flight to MIA and they upgraded us to E+!

I booked the car originally via Chase and had free cancellation up to 6 hours prior to pickup. Cancelled that and got a car for $100 less from Priceline.

TBH it's why I like DDF.

When I have interactions like this on DDFB, people are invariably lazier and snap back at me for being too pushy for trying to offer suggestions to resolve their problem. When I do get involved I often regret it, so I tend to avoid it and just let it do its thing.

There’s a certain barrier of entry to DDF (the threshold is much lower on FB, both for finding the DD community and for joining/connecting), and the bottom of the barrel DDFB users ruin it for everyone.

Really? We don't really see that here. It's mostly on DDMS when people think the world revolves around Brooklyn.
