Not my kids, they don't give up easily. It took my 2nd kid a few weeks till he figured it out.
I had to buy a light cover that the only way to turn it on and off is by sticking a thin stick into it. Even that they eventually figured out but its much harder for them to do it
Interesting, my kid outsmarted the doorknob cover, but never the light switch lock (how is your kid even strong enough to open it), it's only in her room and only closed on shabbos/yomtov.

Anybody have ideas

I have little kids who empty out my bookshelves no matter how tight I make the books.
I use תשורות left over from my wedding. I fill any empty gaps with those and then some more. Rarely had a problem since then.

I've seen metal seatbelt like things screwed into extra shelf pin holes - like two very thick wires that are connected with a strong metal hook like this one:

I don't know exactly what you'd need to buy but I'm told it works great.

If the kids are strong (and determined) enough they’ll either break this contraption, or the bookshelf, whichever is weakest.

Why are you hogging all the shelf space?  You gotta share.  Two bottom shelves are for the kids' toys and books.  This will probably make the bookshelves top heavy, so they really need to be firmly anchored to the wall.

Buy a big box to store your own books in.  Call it Toy Box.  As they get a little older, you should be able to convince the kids to trade.

It wasn't this hook, it was a much stronger looking version. Meant to help for little kids, if they are strong and determined enough they'll be climbing up to higher shelves anyways.

You might want to get one or both of these for another possible toddler little kid issue:

I have the outlet cover and it only works for very little kids.  My 3 year old learned how to open it a LONG time ago.

That's the point, can't be busy taking down the books if you're working the outlet covers.

This was to prevent them from pushing the reset button on the air conditioner plug on a hot shabbos.

110 volts beats 110 degrees, hands down.
