What do you do if you have kids with ants in their pants and they just need to MOVE. Do you do laps around the plane? Does the staff mind this? Anyone have any experience?
Some kids find it therapeutic to walk up and down the aisles knocking into people especially when they are sleeping

Has anyone used a collapsible wagon to move around kids/carseats in the airport? How does it work when checking the collapsed waggon at the gate?

Booking flights to Israel. It's DW, myself, 2 yr old, and 10 month old.
Option 1) fly direct ourselves
Option 2) fly with my mother who's happy to help but has a 4 hour stopover in Boston. Total travel time 16hr 15 min

Also night or day flight better?
I think bigger chance kids would sleep on night flight but if they don't then going to be that much harder than a regular day flight.

Also for 2 yr old, is it worth schlepping a car seat just for the plane?

Any suggestions, tips or opinions appreciated!

Absolutely, IMO. I’m assuming your 10 month old would be able to share it too.
You can get a car seat wheeler for the airport. Did it last summer and it worked out very well.

We flew with 8 kids. The day flight had the parents 99% of the time focused on the kids. The night flight the kids were sleeping most of the time.

A night flight with kids that are up is miserable. A day flight with kids that are up and parents who were packing and that didn't sleep the night before ...
Take into count how you will get them (and yourself) somewhat on to israeli time...
The last time I flew (3y,2y,6m), we took a midnite flight and didnt get them to sleep quickly after landing - rather closer to midnight (It was motzei purim...), which was a BIG, BIG mistake.

In terms of the car seat. It depends on where he'll sleep better and how much you want him to... and if he'll stay it in and play nicely if he's awake.

I would take the flight with your mother. The long flight is the same length and an extra pair of hands is invaluable, and can let all the adults get a little extra sleep. I would trade the 5hrs of extra flight time for that.

what if my mother ends up taking stopover in London instead? Does your answer change because the 'long' flight is being split up? I can't imagine the feeling having to wake my kid up for a stopover

It's more of a tossup.

If your kid is up, than a stopover gives him a change to streatch his legs and run around a bit.
If hes crying alot, the stopover will have you seated near different people who havent spent the last 6 hour tolerating it.
If you have a bad seating situation (like the guy in front of you is leaned back and you don't really have any room on your lap for the lap infant...), the second leg will likely be better...also can depend on whether you will be paying to garantee a a bassinet...

If you have a place to put your baby, and it and the toddler are sleeping... yeh, it sucks to wake them up.

How much hand luggage your taking can also be a factor...if you have a sleeping toddler and infant, and you have three carryons, plus 5 personals, plus more stuff for the baby...you've run out of two peoples hands a long time ago...

I'm not a navi...

Personally, I would take the stopover with the extra hands...

Personally, I’d way rather fly direct and give up the extra pair of hands. Unless your children have trouble sleeping or are especially difficult.

From seatguru. Should I be concerned about fitting a car seat in the seat?

Whats best way to carry carseat through airport if I'm taking a double stroller and not a car seat hand truck?
