I ended up booking Delta for the $837 fare - good deal.  I chose Delta over CO because their nighttime departure times are more convenient for me, as is JFK (as opposed to EWR with CO).

The flights will be on 747-400's - does that mean they're using newer planes?

El Al wasn't available for my dates at that price.
