AMEX Black Card Benefits

I have the opportunity now to get the Amex black card, I have the basic status on Delta and started travelling weekly on Delta if I purchase the black card I will get Elite benefits. Would anyone know if I cancel the card 2 months in will I lose my status?

You're going to pay the $5,000 initiation fee just to cancel it two months later? (Not to mention the $2500 annual fee which may or may not be pro-ratable.)

You must really want Delta Gold status... but for $5g?

my dad has the initial black card and I will be secondary, i get the benefits as well the additional is $1,500.00 and if I am not mistaken it is prorated.

I somehow doubt you'd lose the status, but if its pro-ratable, and you have 60 days to cancel risk free like other AMEXs, there's no downside (besides this one).

The T&Cs you link to are 3 years old.  IIRC this changed sometime in 2011.  AMEX Centurion cardholders can be Delta Platinum by way of an elective benefit.  It was talked about on FT last year...I'll see if I can find the thread.

If you can get Platinum AUs on a Cent account, you might consider converting it to a Plat AU (with the same number) so you'll have a functional Black card for wallet candy (until it expires).

Looks cool to use, but the points earned on black/plat for spending are subpar to even free cards.
