IME gold toe don't last long (and aren't necessarily the most comfortable).

I did read good things about Dickies, but I don't think they have over the calf cushioned socks.

The problem is that none of those are real gold, so who knows what one might end up with. Just ask @mmgfarb 

I have considered buying socks with nanosilver (known for odor fighting) but that's a secondary consideration.

Tommy Hilfiger are very comfortable.Calvin Klein also good but thinner so they don’t last as long

My son used to get holes at the heel.  Since he started getting the larger size, his socks last longer.
