Huh? He would finally get a real VP.

FTFY

Kamala checked the right boxes to get JB elected,
. Whoever is calling the shots will appoint whomever they want as VP, it’s not like Kamala will get anyone reelected.

The senate will have to approve the new VP
And R's won't approve a new one because then D's get majority in the senate again

Good point.

Maybe this is all part of the Republicans plan.

1 - KH goes to SCOTUS
2 - VP spot is kept empty
3 - Win majority in the house
4 - Make Trump speaker (doesn't have to be a member of the house)
5 - 25th amendment = Trump reinstated...

(About as logical as as Bill Kristol's plan...)

As a party, Republicans are way to weak to do any of this.

The idea would be to appoint somebody like Susan Collins to VP, making them the 51st vote and allowing their State governor to replace them with a Democrat senator.

It's more likely Russia will conquer Germany.

The assitant AG Vanita Gupta came out of Judiciary Committee in an 11-11 split vote and was nominated in a 51-49 Senate vote.

In case anyone is interested in
Bill Kristol's plan

Quote
Bill Kristol @BillKristol
Straightforward from here.

June 30: Court overturns Roe.
July 1: Breyer resigns, says Court "needs aggressive progressive justices."
July 4. Biden picks Harris for Court. Harris resigns as VP.
July 5. Biden picks Romney as VP, says national unity needed for the world crisis.
Fall: Progressives are energized by the bitter Senate fight to confirm Harris and fierce state legislative battles over choice. Centrists are reassured by the competent Biden-Romney national unity government.
Nov. 8: Democrats have best midterm for party in power since 1934.

But on the motion to discharge (which is the vote they are referring to), the vote was 49-34 with a bunch of senators not voting - https://www.senate.gov/legislative/LIS/roll_call_votes/vote1171/vote_117_1_00153.htm

Kristen Clarke came out of the Judiciary Committee by a vote of 11-11 for Assistant Attorney General for the Civil Rights Division and the motion to discharge passed 50-48

Editor’s Note: The original version of this story incorrectly stated that Republicans could use Senate rules to block a Biden Supreme Court nomination. It was based on the author’s incorrect analysis of a May 13, 2021, Congressional Research Service report. The Senate will require a majority of votes to approve Justice Stephen Breyer’s replacement, not 60 votes.
