Only in Brooklyn. I grew up in Flatbush. Many times I'd see signs adjacent to driveways saying things like:
'Don't even think about parking here'
'24-hour active driveway, parking is not allowed - EVEN FOR JUST ONE MINUTE!'
'It's against the LAW AND HALACHA to park here'
I had a neighbor who lived next door to a laundromat - he constantly had people blocking his driveway. While he had a good rapport with the Laundromat's owner, and there were signs in the laundromat warning against blocking the neighbors driveway, people still didn't care. One more than one occasion he'd have people towed. If he was returning home and the driveway was blocked, he'd double park and block the car in.
While I might have handled things differently, I totally understand his frustration.
Contrast that where I live now, the town I live in has a no overnight parking rule. So cars cannot be on the street between 2-6am. I almost never have a parking problem.
