Here are the next round of changes:
-for arrears: delinquent property taxes is defined as any tax bill that was issued in 2021-2022 or earlier. Taxes levied for the 2022-2023 tax year are not eligible for a HAF award.
-for forward payments: NYS HAF is no longer offering forward payment assistance for NYC property taxes.
-homeowners with arrears in excess of $200,000 are ineligible for NYS HAF.

What's the point of keep on changing the rules if they are not taking any new applications?!

Many ppl who were rejected originally have now been funded.

My thoughts are that they don't want to reopen and cause a run on the funds (like NY Recovery Grant did) so instead they keep changing the rules for current applicants based on the application pool so that they can distribute all funds within that pool.

Re: Notice of Loan Forgiveness

We are pleased to inform you that the New York State Homeowner Assistance Fund (NYS HAF) and the New York State Housing Trust Funding Corporation (HTFC) have forgiven your NYS HAF award effective the date of this letter.  NYS HAF has fully disbursed all of its allocated funding and will cease operations, including servicing of your NYS HAF loan. This early forgiveness of the full amount of your loan means that you have no further obligations to the NYS HAF program.

Your loan was originally made on 10/12/2022, the date you signed your Promissory Note with NYS HAF through Sustainable Neighborhoods LLC (SN). The lien was filed in the name of SN and HTFC has been servicing your loan on behalf of SN.

There is no action required on your part to effectuate this forgiveness. Within two to three weeks you will receive a letter by mail for your records as evidence that your NYS HAF loan is fully forgiven. You may present this letter to any relevant authority, title company, buyer, or other party as confirmation that the loan no longer exists.

We will also include in the letter a copy of a UCC Financing Statement Amendment (also known as a UCC-3 Termination), which is a form that you can present to your title company, lender, attorney, or county clerk to remove the NYS HAF lien on your property if necessary.

Should you have any questions about this notification or require further assistance, please contact NYS HAF by leaving a voicemail at 855-286-6688, providing a detailed description of your inquiry.

Sincerely,

NYS HAF Program
