Not commenting on the ethics. The term hacking is often used in illegal/unethical access.

It’s good to know a place gives order retention bonuses, could come in handy when that’s actually the case. Kinda like when you call Dell or another company to return and they offer you a retroactive discount to keep the item so they don’t have to deal with restocking/used items.

Worked for me, but it actually cancelled a friend's order. BE aware you may have to reorder

I don't think they look at it like that. There's two separate topics, if I had to guess there is somewhat of a shortage on ram and they decided to go for 8/12GB and add a feature to use some SSD space to expand it, hoping that in real world use it won't matter (probably true). Then the pricing department does their research and see what people would pay for what and figure that someone who's spending the max doesn't care about the extra 100 etc..
Btw the 1TB sold out first.

Just as taking out the SD card slot makes people upset but yet everyone is still buying them i.e. Samsung is making a killing, anything else that can get them more money..

Thanks for clarifying. Your post seemed to say that everyone should take advantage of this 'hack' in order to save a few dollars on what they were ordering, even if they really weren't planning on cancelling

I wonder if I've been blacklisted or something. I fought a charge last year when they sent me a defective phone and refused to replace it. Every order goes through and then I keep getting emails that they've cancelled because they couldn't verify all my payment information.  I've tried 3 diff credit cards. And called my CC to make sure nothing was being declined. The charges show as pending even.

They may also restrict the amount of trade ins per address just bare that in mind

Ended up having to order it through a friend's account with their credit card. I must be banned or something. Quite frustrating.  Also just play around with the s22 ultra in his store and I really wish they would have not given it it's curved edges. Also the regular s22 is quite fantastic. I really love smaller devices as well. It's considerably shorter than the s21 and feels a bit lighter as well.
