The MP who posted the story says he's working directly with the woman involved to resolve the issue with her bank.

My guess is that the bank made a mistake here or unilaterally made this their policy. Personally I think this was inevitable after the federal government mandated banks to go after the accounts of the protestors and gave banks the power and protection to do so with little or no oversight on which specific accounts get frozen. Not exactly shocking that things went wrong under such circumstances.

One question now is since it was never ratified by the parliament was it ever actually legal? One practical implication being do the financial institutions who participated in seizing funds etc actually get the immunity provide by the Emergency act?
