Car parked hit and run
« on: February 20, 2022, 12:49:23 PM »
My car was parked and someone hit it and sped off. Only got make model, and color but couldn't get license plate in time.  Police came said police report would be available in several days.  They said there's a police camera Down the block but my insurance company would need to obtain it.

This was in nyc, my car shited to curb after was hit,  damage doesn't seem that severe, car is drivable, looks like side panel scratched ,next to wheel slightly cracked, , small dent etc

Should i report to insurance? Will it go up? And can they obtain video or waste?

Thanks

Most of it can be wiped off seems..

Depends on you deductible, remember it gets reported to Carfax this can affect your resale value.
My guess is it’s not worth it. It’s your choice

Was already reported to police, will it still be reported to car fax?

I had same story this week. Be happy ot didn't touch your brake lights glass. Mine was. So far I didn't do anything. Its a lease . Hopefully it will be included in damage waiver.

Geico

Turns out damage is greater than deductible as axle is damaged

you choose your deductible. The higher the deductible, the lower the premium

In some states uninsured motorist coverage does not have a deductible.

Adjuster came down and gave an estimate,  anyone familiar with actual repair costs?

When you pay out of your pocket they charge $1k, when insurance pays they charge $10k.

They don't charge they get an estimate for repair costs.. but damage is above deductible

Once there's a police report it goes on the Carfax, it has nothing to do with the insurance claim.
