Not very serious. I filled out the app with the very basic info, no question on whether we're planning to live/vacation/rental, etc.

i think they’re doing it mainly so they have a infrastructure they need to fill classes jobs ect.. basic things and roles to make it work and later to expand once something’s working they want to have teachers tutors daynaim subs rebeim cooks mashgichim store owners they’re going to have hatzalah Chaveirim a 24/7 health center so these things have to be portioned at least in the beginning you can’t accept 100 people and find out that they’re all cooks and you have no rebbeim

The pickier they are and/or the more people applicants they need to get to 150 vetted families, the less chance this has to succeed. Hope they aren’t taking it too far.

BTW I noticed one one of the new videos that the flyby rendering showed a bunch of pools. So I guess it will be an option for some house types.

If I’m not mistaken it will depend on the house you buy, the expensive house will come with a pool, others will have the option to add upon request.

People should be aware this area on the border of Okeechobee and Glades county is VERY rural. People from NY or NJ who think that Memphis or Baltimore are small towns are in for real culture shock. This isn't Miami or Boca. Other than a strip of shopping on a major road that has big box stores there is a whole lot of nothing, swamp, farms, mom & pop stores and restaurants that specialize in bbq and gator and catfish and fried frogs legs.
There are NO Jews in this area, not just no frum Jews, no Jews. To the best of my knowledge there zero Jewish houses of worship of any "denomination" in either county.  Alligators could be very prevalent.
The nearest frum community Boca Raton which is probably a 1.75 hour drive at least.

1100 families is not really sufficient on its own to support a full range of products and services. To compare to Lakewood, it would be comparable to west gate on its own with no surrounding areas.

I believe you are correct. There is Chabad in Port St Lucie but by no means is there a frum community. And Okeechobee is by no means Southern Florida (in terms of lifestyle of type of people). While this sounds nice and beautiful they will need a lot more people coming in to make it really viable long term.

All true, and I wish it was only 20 minutes away from Boca/Miami/Palm Beach, but I think at this point the frum community desperately needs more options, and we can sustain further growth beyond the initial 1,100 homes pretty quickly.
