Honestly I'll be shocked if there's any meaningful software updates in Twitter's near future. They simply don't have enough hands on the keyboard to develop, test, and support an end to end release.

Big difference - Twitter's current lean staffing doesn't have the institutional knowledge, while Tesla's employees were able to build up the knowledge (and pass it along).

I'll try an analogy:
Imagine Dan/JJ decide to suddenly retire 1 day and pass DDMS to MendelRandom without passing him any of the knowledge. Not to disparage MendelRandom, but DDMS would never be the same. This is Twitter now.

However, imagine MendelRandom decided to start MRDMS 15 years ago and build it up organically. This is Tesla.

Ah I realized that I wasn't clear before - I meant they don't have enough "knowledgeable" hands on the keyboard. Can't assign people onto a system they know nothing about and expect them to produce anything meaningful in the short term.

Highly unlikely. The only item that can even be a question is the FEC complaint that it should be considered a donation. I think that is a long shot.

ETA I wouldn't take this article's word, but false testimony is another potential crime.
