Not really. He's more of a 1960's college type liberal that wants free exchange of ideas, not today's leftist that wants to force everyone to conform to their view and wants free speech only as long as they agree with it. Many people who ordinarily would be moderate democrats have been pushed to label themselves conservative because of this modern day leftist ideology, even though they are probably more liberal/libertarian when it comes to social issues. And there aren't many stuffy social conservatives as there were back in the day.
