Can't spell renegotiate without reneg

Twitter will be happy at this point to take $1bln from Musk and send him packing.

Musk is not paying $1B. If he reneges it'll be because they materially misrepresented the business.
I wonder what people who type "u" instead of "you" do with all their free time.

Did they? Did they make any representations at all (to him directly) before he made the offer?

If they are in filings that is enough

Are there misrepresentations in the filings? If yes, that’s an issue even if he doesn’t buy Twitter.

Can’t take Musk’s words at face value, he’s known for hyperbole.

Maybe this was all a PR stunt, with the bonus that he gets to cash out of Tesla without getting criticized?

Or maybe he just wants to pay a lot less.

I have no idea where Musk got those numbers or whether they’re formal communications to investors.

It's the latter. Though I speculated (here) that he was just trolling and pressuring for changes when the offer first came out.

In the public filings the past few years they cast doubt on their active user numbers, this isn't something new he discovered.

Yeah, then it’s not gonna get him off the hook for the $1 billion break fee.

That’s really not true (legally, anyways–we are talking about Elon after all.)

We don’t quite know what his agendas are, so who knows.

He can only back out if he has a legitimate reason, but still needs to pay the fee?
