If I previously applied through OC, I can't renew through the state?
I think you can. IIUC the only reason that most of a lakewood is on the county, is because in the past, a couple with no kids wasn't eligible for any NJ FamilyCare. Once the wife became pregnant, she became eligible for the county but not for the state. Once you had a kid, then you became eligible for the state. Because of this, most people signed up with county during first pregnancy and then never switched. Once your making above the limit for free jerseycare and the parents are kicked off and the kids start costing,  you need to switch to the state.

I'm not sure if this is correct.  We are with the state (big mix up).  A kid or two ago (before everyone had plan A), we wanted to get my wife on plan A for the pregnancy.  We were told plan A is only on county, not on state.  We could not 'just transfer to county.' We would have to apply with the county (which would get us kicked off the state).  Since we were mid-pregnancy, we left everything as is.

Agav, AFAIK, since Obamacare, there is no difference (benefits-wise) between county and state.

Correct. There used to be a reason to stay on County so that pregnant mom could be on Plan A and get dental care. Now all adults are on Plan A and get dental care and now the state accepts even a single adult so I don't see any reason for anyone to go county anymore.

Anybody use the "market place" to purchase insurance for parents?
How much is a decent plan for people with income minimally above the JC limits?
Which plan is decent, does it cover dental etc like the JC?
When can people enrol and how?

ETA it looks like the only normal plan (-No massive deductible) is 960 a month.

I heard it's only if you are on the county - not the state.
1. how do you know if youre on the county or the state?
2. what's the changes regarding kollel checks?

You're county unless your income was very close/above the max when you applied.

The LRRC is a great resource. Walk in, and ask. They are extremely knowledgeable. Or call them 732-942-9292.

If you apply online, at the end of the application it will tell you if ur with state or county.

Also the changes are,  that they will be counting Kollel checks and personal Pell checks add income. Which it wasn't until now.  So for those in the low income bracket have to make sure they are still eligible.

I thought since Obamacare all they want is your tax return. And according to many accountants Kollel checks don't go on the return.
