I got the approval letter (applied through county) but the state isn't pulling any info up with case number or social so I'm unable to pick an HMO. (Secondary insurance btw- does that need an HMO)
Once I get the approval letter does it take a few days for Medicaid to process and be in the system?
Does the county ever answer the phone, or get back to the voicemails? I called a bunch of times but all I get is attitude from the old cranky receptionist, and an unanswered voicemail.

Ime

Could take a while till you get a letter asking you to select a hmo. - even then it takes a while till it gets into affect.

They called some number and entered the ID number.

First time for me in 3 years. They usually just look at the card, which means nothing, since there no expiration date on it.

Applied for JC and got list in mail of bunch of stuff to send in. I'm not sure what all these things are. I need a Naturalization Certificate? How would I get one? I don't believe I (or my wife) has one.

I am assuming that she wasn't born a US citizen? Didn't she get a certificate when she got citizenship?

It may be due to subsidies and out of pocket limits, but if those end up not applying or being very small you are probably best off with a broker who has the same products and prices but can give you good advise on the differences between plans. That is what I ended up doing.

if you would live in NY they recently came out with an awesome looking option called health Essential plan http://info.nystateofhealth.ny.gov/EssentialPlan too bad your jersey
otherwise the marketplace can be a good option especially if you just missed the cut off you may be eligible for tax credits and cost share reduction plans and I think there are agents who can sell you plans through the marketplace but Im not sure if they can get you both cost share reductions and tax credit definitely the lrrc can guide you in the marketplace....

Well, this is new in NY as well. I had to pay $500 a month for a  single person plan 2 years ago when I would have had to pay $20/month now.
