Does anyone have experience with going above the income limit? I remember something about a two year extension. Is that just for the kids or for the whole family?
If your income increases due to a new job, you write a letter to your caseworker saying that you got a new job and your income is now above the limit and that you are requesting a 2 year extension. This will give the entire family coverage for another 2 years while you get yourself settled in your new job, enable you time to ensure that you will be keeping that job - and gives you time to look for a new insurance plan.
is it different if I'm going over the limit due to a raise?
If you are self employed they may give you a hard time, requiring that you prove and document all items of income and expense. Be very careful how you report self employment income..
