To confirm I did not want to man the buses, I made the mistake of stating the wrong position. The position I was interested in, I believe they are called service units.
A service unit is someone who cleans, restocks, and gasses up the ambulances.
The guys who drive their own cars (called fly-cars) are either EMT-Bs (EMT Basic) or EMT-Ps (Paramedics)
Hatzolah only uses EMT-Bs and EMT-Ps
Main levels of emergency care
First level is a CFR/EMR - Certified First Responder - Can start CPR
2nd level is an EMT-B - EMT Basic - Perform basic life support including CPR, AED, administer O2, handle open wounds, deliver baby.
3rd level is an EMT-P - Paramedic - they can administer Advanced life support (read EKGs), Intubate a patient, administer drugs, start an IV.
I'm sure I'm leaving some stuff out, someone here want to fix my descriptions?
