Norse Atlantic (Norwegian long-haul’s reincarnation) now has tickets on sale, you can book travel starting Mid-June (varies by route).

https://flynorse.com/

Prices are super cheap, but it’s a barebones fare and add ons are expensive, expect to pay more than $100 for a bag (you pay for carry-on bag as well, only underseat bag is included in base fare), a seat, check in (starts at $10, I’m not sure what that is), and a meal ($20-30, no KSML available yet). They’ll be using Norwegian’s 787 Dreamliner fleet, which are very nice planes. Their Premium cabin is also a very nice value.

They do have some bundled fares, but check what’s included as getting a cheaper fare and paying only for what you need might be cheaper.

Pretty cool if you want to go to Oslo. OSL doesn’t seem to have many flights to other cities though.
Weren’t they reportedly going to operate out of SWF?

It’s a no-brainer if you’re flying economy and OSL is your destination. Connecting travel certainly more feasible pre-COVID when you can book onward travel from OSL with Norwegian as well, or potentially even Widrøe or SAS.

Yup, prior discussion was SWF. Too far from NYC to really compete with NYC airports for many passengers.

Should be interesting for TLV self connect.
Norse is what the industry needs to get to pre-Covid fares.
I just hope that the learned their lesson from Norwegian how to be fiscally responsible.

Norse Atlantic, which has risen from the ashes of Norwegian’s former long haul operation (it is even using the same aircraft), is starting flights from London Gatwick to New York next month.
“Norse Atlantic UK is planning to offer a comfortable inflight experience, affordable fares, and a more environmentally friendly service to transatlantic passengers with initial services between London Gatwick and New York, Fort Lauderdale (FLL) and Orlando (MCO), and soon after between London Gatwick and Los Angeles (ONT), San Francisco (SFO), Chicago (RFD) and Washington DC (BWI) in the United States”.

I am glad Norse learned from Norwegian's mistake and is not flying out of SWF. I am surprised that they chose RFD because it is too far from the City. People complain about MDW's distance and that is a lot closer. I think this is a mistake. I feel the same about ONT.
I think their East Coast Routes will be solid though.

Norwegian was flying both JFK and SWF simultaneously, they were kinda different operations/subsidiaries: SWF was flights to UK/Scotland/Ireland and maybe some other European destinations like BCN, while was NAX JFK flying to OSL/ARN/CPH

I’ll be flying Norse this summer and will report back, but I’m really not expecting much, they don’t seem to be on a real GDS/system yet and things seem very rudimentary.

Now there’s talk of a base in ARN
https://simpleflying.com/norse-atlantic-plans-stockholm-base/

In other news, SAS is on strike and OSL-based Norse flights are packed with SAS passengers. Let’s see how long the SAS strike lasts, it’s good for Norse’s business…

I flew SWF to DUB back in the day. It was pretty good. For me it made sense because my office was just 20 minutes away.
Unfortunately I am not able to fly internationally until November but I would not hesitate to book with Norse. Their fares are unbelievable, including premium.
I am wondering what the demand is at CPH?

@AsherO You didn't fly Norse to Oslo?

I drafted a short comment and thought I posted it.

Flew Norse JFK-OSL-JFK, they fly Norwegians 787s (mostly 789s but they have some 788s) and are still getting things up speed.

Their IT systems are very sparse, and it’s really no frills with everything being an up charge. No KSML available yet, no internet (though the planes are equipped), with some food and duty free options sold on the planes. The IFE system’s offerings were sparse and it was a bit buggy, but I didn’t care for it in the first place. One or two flights on the past schedule were significantly late (once they got things under control after the launch), but flights are regularly ~ an hour late but arriving early anyway due to extra flight time blocked.

I flew with a kid each time and got assigned adjacent seats at online self-check-in (it cost money at the airport if you neglected to do this), pre-assigned seats aren’t cheap at all. My kid leaned on the scale on the outbound at JFK and the scale shows 61 lbs for a 50 lb allowance, my bag was actually 54 lbs and she had me take some stuff out that I packed into my carryons. Officially only a backpack/personal item is allowed on the plane for free (they charge for carryons), but I didn’t see them weighing carryons and we all had backpacks and I had a Tallis bag that they didn’t make an issue about. I also saw lots of other passengers with a backpack and another personal item, obviously YMMV.

Please lmk if you have any specific questions that I’ll be happy to answer.

Thanks!
Usually when I fly budget I don't purchase a carry on and have a good track record of not being asked to pay, but here I purchased a carry on because I figured better safe than sorry. Oh well... I'll report back if they did end up being picky about it or not now that they're hopefully more settled into a routine.
