I have 4 days which should I do?
« on: January 06, 2012, 09:33:34 AM »
I will be leaving Sun morning from TLV and going to Rome. I leave Venice on Thursday to US.

How should I split my time up?

I also have the option of taking a connecting flight through Prague giving me a full day stop over there, getting me into Rome at 8:30pm?

Also what is the best way to travel around Italy? Mainly, Rome to venice?

Don't do the day in Prague. You'll get it on another trip. I would do Rome Sunday afternoon- Monday and Tuesday morning take an afternoon train to Venice and do Wednesday Thursday in Venice. if you're just traveling between cities (especially only once) there is no reason to rent a car. Or maybe look into flying, the pros and cons were discussed once before, search and ye shall find.

In personally think there is much more to do in Rome than in Venice. I think there are three must do's-the Jewish quarter, colosseum and surrounding area and the Vatican. I'm Venice all you need to do us roam around a little and go to Burano

~1 (Don't really agree or disagree  ;D) I think u should spend half your time in each.
Rome: Spanish Steps, Castel Sant'Angelo, Piazza Venezia, Pantheon, Trevi Fountain, Vatican, Colosseum, Jewish Ghetto
Venice: Jewish Ghetto, Ponte di Rialto & Rialto Market, Doge's Palace, Campanille (Bell Tower), Burano, Murano, Ca' d'Oro and of course take the #1 vaporetto up or down the grand canal

Venice to Rome will take u about 2.5 hours if u take a eurostar.

keep in mind the pantheon is a church (since the 7th century) and used as such on occasion, so no going in

You didn't mention when you are flying. If in the winter, there is almost a 20 degree F difference in average temperature between Prague and Rome in Jab/Feb. Everyone is different, but personally, I would take the warmer temps and leave Prague for another time of year.
